Purdue Boilermaker Half!

By far, this was the first true race I "trained" for! Jacob had left to go to TBS for 6 months, McKenzie and Harry started school and I had a lot of time on my hands. You know between taking care of the kids, the house, the dogs, the groceries, plus being a substitute teacher...you know lots of time! Any who! I dedicated my time to this race. I made things happen. Thankful for my AMAZING family, they were able to help me out and come up so they could be here for race day!
I remember the anticipation of race day was growing, I was so nervous about what to wear. In Indiana the weather is so crazy from day. I am usually very cold, but fleece lined would have made me too hot, do I wear crops or leggings, shorts... I don't know!! and what top, long sleeve, short sleeve, half zip...what!!! I remember looking on pinterest for "weather appropriate clothing for running" I went back and forth and back and forth. Finally at the package pick up exhibits I sucked myself into buying a half zip, with thumb holes of course! I spoke to the helpful girl at Tri-N-Run for a while on what I should wear! Finally I can up with my outfit! Lord knows after all that training and being mentally prepared, leave it to being a women problem...not knowing what to wear to stroke me out the most!
But! Race day came and I ran the best 1/2 marathon I was freezing, maybe thats why lol but either way it motivated me to keep going. I never even stopped to rest.. I didn't even go to the bathroom even though it hit me at 11 miles that I desperately needed to. I remember seeing the port a potties in site!!!! I ran up to them ...all were "occupied" I checked my watch and knew I couldn't wait around it I wanted to make my goal time. I just took off!!! I pushed through those last two miles, as I turned the corner I could see the clock... I had to push it in order to make my time!!!! and I did!!! That truly was my favorite race to date ;)

Dances With Dirt Devils Lake Wisconsin Race

After watching Jacob complete his first ultra marathon trail race, I instantly wanted to run one too!! I decided to train and run in my first 1/2 marathon trail race, which just so happened to be my first half marathon. We loaded up  the kids and made it a vacation! We hit the road for Wisconsin Dells! Dances with Dirt, truly puts on a fun and exciting race! Not to mention Devils Lake is absolutely beautiful! As I was about 2 miles out I was ready to be finished...more than ready! I can remember making the turn out of the woods and seeing my children. I actually even got tears in my eyes because I was so happy to see them. There they were cheering me on to the finish! they even ran with me across the finish line. It was such a rewarding experience. I felt so much pride in completing that 1/2. It definitely set me up for many more to come!!!

  • 1 1/2 Tbsp cumin
  • 1 tsp kosher salt ( I did not use salt as we are lowering our sodium intake)
  • 1 can (28oz) Classico Crushed Tomatoes ( I just used canned tomatoes from Sam's)
  • 1 can (15.25oz) black beans, rinsed and drained( I didn't have any beans ...oppps)
  • 1 can (15.25oz) sweet corn, drained
  • 3 cup Jasmine Rice (cooked)( I used wheat rice...advocare baby)
  • 8 fresh Sweet Red peppers( I used GREEN Bell Peppers)
  • 1 cup reduced fat Colby Jack cheese( Didn't have Colby but I used reduce fat)
  • 2 green onions, sliced ( didn't have onions)
WHAT I ADDED that is not in this is KALE!!!! I used about 3 cups of kale!

WaCkY Wednesday!

Seriously, a wacky Wednesday! Woke up at 0445 and thought it was going to be a great day ;) Fixed our morning juice (which was AMAZING) Highly highly recommend this juice ! Today was a morning energizer/ fat burner
2 grapefruits ( I used pink)
2 oranges
1/2 lime
1 inch of ginger

Sorry I forgot to take a pic and I had already drank most of it. This did not make my average amount it was a little less, but I didn't want to add to much more to it! Definitely a good acidic boost!

So as I was saying before I got side tracked with my juice! I "thought" it was going to be a good morning, had my drink fixed my coffee and started my yoga....then.... Goose heard something, jumped over my tray with my coffee and spilled it all over my PLANNER!!! AKA my LIFE!!!! I hurried grabbed it yelled at him and WOKE Harry up!!! lol So there went yoga, there went my me time ! BUT its all good, because I got some one on one time with Harry, apologized to Goose and went about my morning, Life is too short to let ONE instance change your whole day :)

Harry took an early nap today. I guess it was that 5:30 wake up call

I guess Goose felt bad! lol I LOVE these babies !!!

and I must post my Beautiful oh so posh little lady this morning!!! She picked out her outfit, yeah the boot socks don't match perfectly but I let her go on and wear them :) I couldn't tell that pretty girl NO!!!

Gosh  I LOVE my kiddos! What on earth did I ever do before my hubby and my kids!!! :)
