Jane Wayne Day (April 24, 2010)

Where to begin....I know that my husband, along with every other United States Marine under gos extensive training. On this day, I was able to experience a small 6 hour piece of what they go through. We began our journey at Paige Field, were we got divided into groups and put with our "drill instructors" My group actually had a female...and let me just say, she scared me to death. I guess I look at the men and see my husband and know deep down they are nice people and almost laughed when they told me something to do, however the female was no joke! Our first event was the Repel Tower! This was the most exciting to me, we got harnessed up and went through a VERY brief training (nothing near as extensive as a recruit, just enough to know the proper way to do it) Then we begin up the stairs. I think the higher we climbed the more nervous I was! Finally at the top, I don't even think I looked over I just turned around and did as instructed, it was crazy, even as high up as I was fear was not an option, I was hanging off the side of a wall with nothing but a rope around my waste to hold me up. I remember listening to my instructor on the way down. It was so rewarding to hit the ground...on my feet of course! Next we went through a few crucible events, we went to the rifle range...where I shot a rifle!! I actually hit my target too. We went to receiving and stood on the yellow foot prints and we received the "pick up" speech from our Senior Drill Instructor. This was a very motivating and eye opening experience!

Lowe's Build & Grow

Last year around Christmas time we were introduced to Lowe's Build and Grow. It is absolutely a wonderful idea and so much fun! McKenzie looks forward to it every time they have it, which is usually twice a month. Over the last few months we have made several different wooden toys. McKenzie loves using her hammer! They receive a certificate and a patch that goes that you can put on there apron. Here are some pictures of a few projects we have done over the last few months.

2nd Battalion Family Day :)

Jacob's battalion had a special day for just the drill instructors and their families to come to. We brought a dish, had good food and good times with our husbands and friends. The battalion had a bounce house, games and face painting! It was a lot of fun and a nice time spent with Jacob. I hated to see him go back to work after only a few hours with us...however, you learn very quickly to take what you get when you get it, and cherish every minute of it!

McKenzie "thinks" she's a big girl!

McKenzie Love...loves to put on make up lipstick you name it! She was sitting on the floor in our closet the other day (July 23rd) It was so cute. She had my make up brushes and was making the funniest face. I thought about it after looking at the picture, she is only making the same face I do when I apply mascara. It's too funny the little things that kids pick up on!

A Visit From a Special Friend!

On July 14th a dear friend of mine from college visited us. She has a precious little boy name Tucker, he and McKenzie are only 10 days apart! It was so much fun to watch them interact with one another and finally warm up to each other. By the end of lunch they were not only checking each other out, they even hugged and kissed each other :) how sweet !! We had a wonderful time with Jammie and Tucker it just went by too fast. I look forward to seeing them again very soon. We miss them already.

Wow! It's been a while!

So, I know I am a dork, but the other night while watching Julie & Julia, it totally reminded me that I haven't updated our blog in a while. So then I started looking and OMG its been since February?!?!?!? seriously? Well, I suppose this stay at home mom must stay pretty busy! Thinking back it doesn't seem like months ago, but more like weeks...wow! So much to catch up on, so where to start???? I read somewhere that you should start with the most recent events first, since they are fresh on your brain. Then what with the rest????? I just make it up! haha!! I guess it looks like a slow going process for me since we have been so busy! I am going to "try" and do a few a day.....but only time will tell. I guess we will see how well I do over the next few days!! Hope all is well ! xoxoxo

Grove Girls Place 6th in Nation!

2010 Grove Girls
UCA Nationals 6th Place

my sweet sister, her SENIOR year with the trophy
THE SENIORS

The Pleasant Grove Cheerleaders went to compete in UCA's National Cheerleading Championships in Orlando, Florida. The Grove Girls had several other competitions before they could even make it to this elite one. After a wonderful start on Saturday at preliminaries the girls moved on to semi-finals, they did not do their best performance but still received a bid to finals, something that has not happen to this school since the early nineties. After an awesome performance for finals the girls finished 6th in the nation! Taking home a huge trophy and memories that will be with them forever! WAY TO GO GROVE GIRLS!!!
